Gastric Balloon, which gained popularity when weight gain increased as a result of sitting at home, especially during the pandemic period, is an interventional procedure that enables the patient to lose weight between 15 and 20 kg without the need for any surgical operation. There is no need for general anesthesia in this procedure. It occurs with sedation, which is known as a mild drowsy drug, and gastroscopy method between 10 and 20 minutes.

The gastric balloon inflated with 400 to 700 cc of liquid or air prevents excessive food intake as it will increase stomach filling and the patient starts to lose weight from the moment he leaves the hospital. After this procedure, the patient does not stay in the hospital. He can immediately return to his social life. The attached balloon can remain in the stomach for 6 to 1 year. We recommend that our patients work with a dietician so that they can lose weight permanently. Because after the balloon is removed, eating habits must change in order not to gain weight.

However, as is known, every procedure has a complication. In the first 48 hours after the gastric balloon is applied, it can cause nausea, vomiting and cramping. In order to rule out these ailments in our patient, we apply medical treatment and allow him to overcome this 48 hours in the lightest way. It should not be forgotten that these ailments are temporary and disappear within 1 week. In fact, we do not see these disorders in some of our patients.

As a result, gastric balloon is a comfortable method by which individuals who cannot lose weight without support can lose weight without surgery.
